SURPRISED!

Well, if you have been following this blog for a little while, you will know that during the few years the "surprises" we have experienced have not been happy ones: father diagnosed with and battling cancer, a miscarriage, swine flu, husband laid off from job, a move to a new state while still having a house in Tennessee, first floor "flooding", my "baby" starting kindergarten, etc.  Needless to say, we've had our share of trials and a lot of grief.  We are confident that The Lord is faithful and true and is at work in our lives, but it has been a lot.  Furthermore, I know that there are MANY people out there which MUCH more difficult circumstances.  I'm not complaining, just stating the facts.  However . . . last Thursday after we got home from getting the kids from school, I was talking on the phone with a friend and the doorbell rang.  "Oh, a solicitor," I said, "I'm just not going to answer it, not going to buy anything anyway."  She replied, "You should answer it."  "No, no, no.  He'll go away."  She finally convinced me to open the door and it was her!  Holy Cow!  What a huge blessing and surprise.  I hadn't been able to see my friend in years as she lives in Washington.  I was completely shocked.  It was such a wonderful surprise, a fabulous blessing for me and exactly what my heart was needing.  I have not had fellowship with another friend at all for well over a month, so refreshing, like a tall glass of cold water.
