Officially Fall!

Well, it is officially fall here in our house! Yes, on the calendar, it has been fall for over a month and the weather has been cool and chilly, especially at night and we have even had frost-filled mornings, but fall does not officially start in our house until we make our traditional Pecan-Pumpkin Butter Dessert Bars. They are so super yummy and are the epitome of autumnal fare. We had some new neighbors move it a few weeks ago so we packaged some up to deliver to them while welcoming them to the neighborhood and introduce ourselves. We've moved several times on the West Coast and no one ever stopped by to welcome us to the neighborhood. When we moved to the South, where we were expecting "southern hospitality" and to be schooled in what true hospitality is. . . . still, no one welcomed us. When we moved to Tennessee, still not one person welcomed us. By no means am I bitter or upset about it, I was just surprised, what happened to all that Southern Hospitality? Granted, we currently live in a city that is one of the fastest growing cities in the country so almost everyone here is a transplant, so perhaps this is the reason. Perhaps our country is just so much more mobile than it once was and with people moving in and out of neighborhoods so quickly, a new neighbor isn't all that new? We have lived in our current house for almost 2 1/2 years and this is the first time within this amount of time without a house for sale on our street. Regardless, I now try to make sure to welcome all of our new neighbors. Heck, if The Lord ever chooses to move us again, I might just deliver some baked goods to our new neighbors and introduce ourselves. Common courtesy just isn't that common any more, it it really is sad . . . . so I'm on a mission and the best place to start is in our own home. Anyway, sorry for all of my blabbing, I'm off my soapbox now. Here are the delicacies.

Yummy! When we moved into our current house the neighbor across the street brought us cookies. I always meant to do it for other people who moved in, but I just never found the time.

OK, so where's the recipe? They look delicious, and you can't go wrong with something called Pecan Pumpkin Butter bars!
