Kindergarten Round-up!

Well, we took Socrates in to school today to get him registered for Kindergarten.  I will miss him so much next year.  I actually thought that it would be a little easier (emotionally) for me to register him than Spielberg, but it wasn't.  I still teared up.  The last five years has gone so fast with him.  He is a light to my day and now I have to share him.  Yet, again, we have contemplated public school vs homeschool.  For now, we are confident that our children should be in the public school.  We pray constantly for the teachers they will have and thus far we have been blessed.  Our most motivating factor in choosing public school, for now, is that God calls us, as Christians, to be lights in this world.  Are all home-schooled children Christians and Christ-followers, no that is a mission field in and of it self.  However, if all the Christians pull their children out of the public schools then there will truly be no hope for them.  This is just where we feel Christ would like us to be at this moment.  . . . . when we reach upper elementary or middle school . . . everything could change!  I have to continually remind myself that although I am given the responsibility to guard each our children's heart and mind, He loves them more than I love them and they, ultimately are in His hands.  He is their provider, protector and only wants what is best for them.  He can protect them more than I ever could.  This doesn't take the responsibility from me as as steward of their lives, but reminds me that I am not in control of anything, really, He is.  I just have to do my best and stay in His will for all of us.
