kitchen

when we moved into our house last july, the builder used flat paint in the eating nook and under the bar.  needless to say, it was a pain in the proverbial rear to clean and keep clean.

here are some pictures from before:

we thought putting up some wainscoting and using a satin paint would work a lot better.  I really wanted to paint the top part a bright green, but it did not match well with the adjoining rooms
(fyi, the dining room is actually grey, not the mint green that it seems to be in the pictures).

here are some pictures of the results:

on a side note, our kitchen faucet had a slow leak that we just discovered last weekend . . . water was slowly traveling down the hose line and ending beneath the cabinets.  the water damage is pretty bad, seeped through to under the hardwoods in the living room and ruined the cabinets. sooooooo, the entire island now needs to be ripped out and replaced . . . i hope that they replace all my wainscoting as i really do not want to redo what i just did.  ugh.
