Braden the Brave

Once there was a little boy named Braden. He was so excited to go to Kindergarten, he picked out his all his school supplies and told everyone who listen how exited he was for his first big day of school!

But first . . . he had to get some shots!

The shot day came and the first thing Braden did that morning was say, "Mommy, I am scared to get my shots." Mommy said, "Oh, Braden, you are going to be SO brave!"

They all had a yummy breakfast together and then it was time to get in the car and go to the doctor's office. As Braden's mommy was putting him in the car, he trembled, "Mommy, I am scared to get my shots." Mommy smiled kindly, in the way only a mommy can do and said, "Oh, Braden, you are going to be SO brave!"

They quietly drove to the doctor's office. As Braden was getting himself out of the car and holding his mommy's hand, he shyly said, "Mommy, I am scared to get my shots." Mommy tenderly looked him in the eyes and said, "Oh, Braden, you are going to be SO brave!"

Braden walked quite slowly to the office. While waiting, he looked up at Mommy and said, "Mommy, I REALLY don't want to get my shots, I am scared!" His mommy just held his had and said, "Oh, Braden, I just know that you are going to be SO brave!"

The waiting room door opened. The nurse called, "Braden?" They got up and went to the designated room. They sat down and the nurse took all information and got him ready for the doctor. While waiting, Braden said, "Mommy, I really don't want to get my shots! Can I sit on your lap?" His mommy just smiled and said, "Of course, Braden. But, I just know that you are going to be SO brave!"

The doctor came in, checked him out and gave in a great bill-of-health. The time had come for the nurse to return and return she did with 3 very long needles. Braden eyes got big and he climbed up on mommy's lap. Mommy wrapped her arms around Braden and shielded his eyes from the needles.

The first needle poked him. As he looked at his mommy, not a tear. His eyes didn't' even water. As the second needle poked him, again, not a tear, his eyes didn't even water. And with the third needle, not a tear, not a watery eye! Braden looked at Mommy and exclaimed, "I was brave!" Mommy just smiled, "I knew you would be brave; you are so brave!" Braden happily took his sucker from the nurse and his three stickers and put the stickers on his shirt and wore all three as badges with pride all day long. He told everyone who would listen of his bravery. Braden was so Brave!

Braden I am so proud of you! You are braver than many adults! Way to go! You are READY for school now! I know you'll have lots of fun. Be sure to give your mom lots of kisses so she can be brave when you go. Especially on the first day!

Karie - great story! I just want to know what the other 2 kids were doing all during the shots.
By the way, I love that Braden is a year older than Caleb, so we can watch you guys brave each milestone before we have to hit it!
